Frequently Asked Questions

VOIR Prepayment & Fees

Thank you for being part of VOIR.

We hope this FAQ helps parents better understand how our payment model works, where the fees go, and how prepaid sessions are calculated.

1. Where does the VOIR payment go?

All VOIR payments go towards supporting the running of the choir, including:

  • Conductor fees

  • Venue costs

  • Basic administrative costs

Currently, 5% of the payment goes towards administration, while the rest goes mainly towards conductor and venue costs.

At the current cost of about $25 per child per session, we need around 10 paying children per session to cover the basic operating cost.

We believe in providing quality music education. Our conductors are experienced musician-teachers who charge market rates, typically around $100 to $150 per hour.

More importantly, we want parents to have the assurance that children who join VOIR receive quality vocal and choral training, so that they can grow in confidence and musical ability.

When there is a surplus, it will be used to offset concert or showcase-related costs (Musical scores), such as hiring additional musicians or covering other performance expenses.

2. Why did VOIR shift to a prepayment package model?

The prepayment package model allows families to enjoy flexibility while also encouraging commitment.

It gives children the option to attend according to their availability, while helping parents plan ahead.

At the same time, it allows VOIR to better anticipate attendance numbers, especially when preparing for showcases or performances.

This helps us plan rehearsals, music arrangements, venue needs, and performance opportunities more effectively.

3. How often do I need to top up?

At the end of every odd month — for example, May, July, September — VOIR will update parents on the number of prepaid sessions remaining.

If your child has fewer than 8 sessions left, you will be asked to top up by purchasing one of the prepaid packages:

  • 8-session package

  • 12-session package

  • 16-session package

Example

At the end of July, your child has 6 sessions left.

You choose to purchase Package A: “VOIR Is This?”, which includes:

8 sessions + 1 free session

This means your child will have:

6 remaining sessions + 8 new sessions + 1 free session = 15 sessions

Depending on how often your child attends, you will only need to top up again when the remaining sessions fall below 8 at the end of the next collection month.

4. What happens to the minimum 8 sessions in the package? Will they ever be used?

Yes.

If your child decides to stop singing with VOIR, the remaining sessions can be used up, and no further top-up will be required.

In other words, the minimum balance simply helps VOIR plan ahead while your child is actively attending. Once your child is ending his or her time with VOIR, the remaining sessions may be used until they are fully utilised.

5. How are prepaid sessions calculated for showcases and special events?

For each showcase or performance opportunity, 1 session credit will be deducted from your child’s package.

Although a typical showcase may last longer than a usual rehearsal — often around 3 hours, including warm-ups, preparation, waiting time, and photo-taking — it will still be counted as 1 session only, with no additional session charge.

This session deduction helps VOIR cover costs related to creating meaningful performance experiences for the children, such as:

  • Venue costs

  • Conductor fees

  • Rehearsal preparation

  • Logistics

  • Additional musicians or support where needed

  • Other performance-related expenses

6. Is the option of paying ad hoc per session still available?

Yes, definitely.

Ad hoc payment remains available at $25 per session.

However, ad hoc payment does not include any free bonus sessions.

Families who attend more regularly may find the prepaid packages more worthwhile, as they come with additional free sessions.

7. I will be away for a period of time. How should I pay for the training sessions?

You may choose to pay ad hoc when your child attends, or commit to a prepaid package.

Prepaid sessions do not expire, so families who travel or have changing schedules can still use their remaining sessions when the child returns.

8. What if my child is unable to continue with VOIR due to medical reasons?

If your child is unable to continue with VOIR due to medical reasons, please inform us privately.

With supporting medical certification, VOIR will provide a full refund of the remaining balance in the prepaid package.

9. What is the fee for a trial session with VOIR?

Every child’s first session with VOIR is a free trial session.

We believe that a child should first experience choir singing, enjoy the session, and find it meaningful and engaging before making a commitment.
